Alpha Xi Delta was founded in 1893 at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois and is one of the oldest women’s fraternal organizations in the United States. With more than 175,000 initiated members, Alpha Xi Delta is a progressive organization dedicated to the personal growth of women. Through membership in Alpha Xi Delta, sisters are inspired to realize their potential through the ideals instilled by their Founders: Sisterhood, leadership, knowledge, and service to their communities.
The Alpha Xi Delta archive, housed at the National Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana maintains and preserves the history of Alpha Xi Delta. The Digital Archive was created in an effort to modernize the Alpha Xi Delta archive by digitizing portions of the collections and making them accessible online. Through this project, documents, images, publications, programs, and scrapbooks currently stored at the Alpha Xi Delta National Headquarters are being digitized and made searchable online through a cutting edge digital history software. The materials currently available on the Digital Archive are just a sample of those currently stored in the archive and the amount of material available digitally will grow over time. Revisit the site to see what new items have been added and explore new facets of Alpha Xi Delta history.
